Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park boasts one of the highest elephant population densities in Tanzania, making it a unique and picturesque destination with its sparse vegetation adorned with baobab and acacia trees.

Situated just a few hours’ drive from the town of Arusha, Tarangire is a popular stop for travelers exploring the northern safari circuit en route to Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The park spans two game-controlled areas, allowing wildlife to roam freely.

Before the rains, herds of gazelles, wildebeests, zebras, and giraffes migrate to Tarangire’s scrub plains, where the last remaining grazing land can be found. Tarangire offers exceptional game viewing opportunities, especially during the dry season when elephants are abundant. Elephant families frolic around the ancient baobab trees and feed on acacia bark from thorn trees during their afternoon meals. The breathtaking vistas of the Maasai Steppe and the mountains in the south make a stopover at Tarangire an unforgettable experience.
